Los Olivos is inviting everyone to welcome in the holiday season with a unique, warm and friendly, small-town experience. The Los Olivos Olde Fashioned Christmas Celebration, Saturday, December 7, from 2:00-8:00 pm.
The afternoon begins at St. Mark’s In-The-Valley Episcopal Church, located at 2901 Nojoqui, where St. Mark’s Preschool has partnered with Arts Outreach to provide an afternoon and evening of family fun. Visitors can browse through the Artisan Bazaar from 2:00-6:30 pm, view the Gingerbread Wonderland where over 30 gingerbread houses will be on display in Stacy Hall until 8:00 pm.
All children and their families are invited to participate. At 6:00 pm, one special Angel will lift her light to the tree, sparking a magical transformation that will illuminate the official Los Olivos Christmas tree. The events at St. Mark’s culminates with a free holiday concert by Adam Phillips at 6:30 pm., donations welcomed at the door
Los Olivos is throwing open their doors and offering many opportunities for merriment all around from 4:00-8:00 pm. In the center of town, by the flagpole, MC Jim Fiolek will introduce live music performed by the Pilgrim String Band from 4:15-5:00 pm, the Santa Ynez Valley Jazz Band from5:15-5:45 pm, and Erica Miller.
The Mission Consort at 6:15 pm. Los Olivos Rotary will be offering free cookies and hot chocolate outside of the Los Olivos Gallery.Towards evening, the streets of Los Olivos will come alive with twinkling lights on buildings and trees, while soft luminaries guide visitors toward warm and welcoming stores.
This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate with your favorite wineries and shops, discover and vote for the most enchanting Christmas Tree on display (over 30 businesses are participating in the 2nd Annual Christmas Tree Exhibit through Jan. 1, 2014.In the evening will be two caroling groups, the “Solvang Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints” and the “Gingerbread Singers” trio featuring Susan Giacobazzi, Amy Geriak, and Sherrie Petersen, strolling from business to business singing festive holiday songs.
The Los Olivos Business Organization would like to encourage visitors to be mindful of the weather and wear appropriate warm clothing and to bring along flashlights to help light your way in dark areas. Grand Ave, from Jonata to Hollister, and Alamo Pintado, from Nojoqui to San Marcos Ave, will be closed to cars from 4:00-8:00 pm.
CELEBRATE THE HOLIDAYS AT L.A. ZOO’S REINDEER ROMP
With L.A.’s only reindeer, plus Santa and animal treats, too!
Can you hear the sleigh bells ringing? Santa and his reindeer are en route to the Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens! The Zoo is creating a one-of-a-kind holiday wonderland this year
Reindeer Romp – the only opportunity to see real reindeer in Los Angeles – as well as decorations and holiday-themed arts and crafts. Santa Claus will also be at the Zoo every weekend between Thanksgiving and Christmas for photos, and, of course, present requests.
But gifts aren’t just for children this holiday season – the Zoo’s animals will also partake in the festivities with engaging activities, like unwrapping their very own presents!
WHAT: Holiday fun at the L.A. Zoo, with Santa and his (real) reindeer, along with festive animal enrichment activities, holiday decorations, and arts and crafts.
WHEN: The visiting reindeer, named Belle, Jingle, Noel, and Velvet, will be on view every day from Tuesday, Nov. 26 through Thursday, January 2.
Santa Claus visits and photos, holiday crafts, and engaging animal activities will take place on Saturdays and Sundays, Nov. 30 through Dec. 22.
The Los Angeles Zoo is open on Thanksgiving Day and closed on Christmas Day.
