October 4th through October 12th at the Lake Perris Fairgrounds.
The Southern California Fair is like any other fair with the usual overload of fried food, Carnival Rides and contests. A couple of event unique to this fair are Sprint Cars racing and a Demolition Derby.
Pricing is more affordable than the Orange and Los Angeles County fairs plus there are quite a few discount to get in free.
The fairs has a long history in the Inland Empire starting in 1925 as the Southern California Fair, Riverside.
During the depression it relocated in 1936 and became the Hemet Utility Turkey Show. After World War II, it became the Farmers Fair of Riverside County. For four decades, it operated on a 40-acre plot in Hemet.
In 1987, it moved to its current home at the Lake Perris Fairgrounds. The recent budget crisis has resulted in the total loss of any and all financial support from the State and almost ended the long running fair.
Without funding from the state the fair continues and is one of the biggest events in the Inland Empire and is on a track to continue for many more years to come.
