Indian Summer California’s Central Coast

The kids might be back in school, but the real “summer” weather on the Central Coast actually occurs during the months of September, October and November. Dry, comfortable days with temperatures hovering around 75 degrees, San Luis Obispo County’s best-loved attractions and natural wonders all but empty when summer vacation ends, making Indian summers on the Central Coast the perfect time to experience the unspoiled beauty of this must-see region.

Fall on the Central Coast means great beach conditions, whether you plan to catch waves or build a sandcastle. For big or little kahunas, group or private lessons with Sandbar Surf are a great way to discover the Central Coast’s hot surf spots and learn to hang ten like a pro. And everything you need for a day on the water is available for rent, from boards to wetsuits to booties. If, however, you prefer the sand to the waves, you’ll have the Central Coast’s miles of pristine beaches mostly to yourself in the fall.

Either way, you’ll be ready to retire in luxury at the BEST WESTERN Shelter Cove Lodge. The property is perched on bluffs with front-and-center views of the Pacific Ocean. Guest rooms feature the finest amenities including Serta® Perfect Sleeper pillow top mattresses, crisp linens and cozy duvets, and appliances including microwaves and mini refrigerators. Relaxing sounds of the ocean can be heard from your own private balcony or patio; you may even see a group of dolphins or whales swimming in the ocean below! Enjoy the hotel’s daily complimentary expanded continental breakfast, oceanfront pool and Jacuzzi or an in-room spa therapy to get the ultimate rest and relaxation during your Pismo Beach getaway.
