Fort
MacArthur Museum preserves
former U.S. Army base in San Pedro, California. The museum located at the site
of coastal defense battery Osgood-Farley. Inside you will
find displays exhibits on the history of Fort
MacArthur and its role in defending the port of Los Angeles. The
massive guns are gone but the concrete gun emplacements
are still visible with Battery Osgood-Farley being the
best preserved. Nearby is the Korean
Friendship Bell, a huge bronze
bell housed in a stone pavilion. The bell was presented
by the Republic of Korea to the American people to celebrate
the bicentennial of the United States, to honor American
veterans of the Korean War, and to symbolize friendship
between the two nations.

Fort
MacArthur Museum overlooks the
Point Fermin Lighthouse which was built in 1874.
The lighthouse has been restored to original condition
and tours are offered every hour at 1:00, 2:00, and
300 P.M. on Tuesday through Sunday. The Fort MacArthur
Museum is dedicated to the preservation and interpretation
of the history of Fort MacArthur, a U.S. Army post which
guarded the Los Angeles harbor from 1914 to 1974. The Museum
was established in 1985, and it is housed in the corridors
and galleries of historic Battery Osgood-Farley.

Hours :12 to 5 PM Tues, Thurs, Weekends & Holidays, arrangements
for special tours can be made by contacting the museum (

PM. A small donation is requested to enter the museum and grounds. The Fort MacArthur
Museum receives next to no public funding so any contribution
is welcome and put to good use. Parking is free.
