Grauman's Chinese
Theatre opened in
1927 showing "King of Kings," produced by Cecil
B. DeMille. During the 1940's, Grauman's Chinese Theatre
also hosted the annual Academy Award ceremonies. The
exterior of the theatre is a Chinese pagoda with a dragon
snaking its way across the front and two stone lion-dogs
guarding the main entrance. The main attraction for tourists
is the forecourt where the stars put their
footprints and hand prints in cement. The theatre is
the starting off point for bus tours of Hollywood and
moive star homes tours. The tours are a little bit touristy
but can be a lot of fun especially if you get a good
tour guide.
