The
Great Park of Orange County California |
| The
Great Park will be built on the former El Toro Marine Corps Air
Station. What was once a busy Marine base is being transformed into
the" Greenest Park in the World".
Plans call for carving out a canyon through the middle of the park
which will have a temperture 15 degrees cooler than the surrounding
park . The park will cover approximately 1,749 acres, making it
larger than New York's Central Park. One of the first activities
visitors will be able to enjoy is the Big Orange Balloon at the
Great Park. First flights are expected to begin spring 2008. The
first public park facilities are anticipated to be open for use
by year 2010. Most major elements of the Great Park’s public
areas will also be complete within five years.
