The
USS Midway Aircraft Carrier Museum is located in downtown
San Diego at the the Navy Pier. Visitors to the historic warship
are can experience over 60 exhibits and 25 restored aircraft.
A boarding pass is about $17.00 but you can save two dollars
if you purchase your tickets online. After boarding you will
offered a headset to take for self-guided audio tour. Your visit
will take you through berthing spaces, the forecastle, engineering,
mess hall, officers quarters, the flight deck and finally the
Captain's Bridge. Allow at least two hours to explore the entire
ship. Wear comfortable shoes and be prepared to climb steps
and walk through narrow passage ways. There is a gift shop and
the Fantail Cafe is open during regular museum hours serving
snacks and beverages. The views of downtown San Diego and the
Bay are worth the price of admission alone. After
you tour the USS Midway another fun activity is to take a harbor
cruise. San Diego harbor cruise boats take you out to Point
Loma and past war ships docked at North Island Navy Base. Another
option is to walk along the promenade to Seaport Village where
you will find shopping and dining options. The USS Midway is
within easy walking distance of the San Diego Amtrak station
giving your the option of leaving your car at home. The
Midway is a fun and educational place to visit while in San
Diego and a perfect destination for your San Deigo day trip.

USS Midway aircraft carrier, alongside Navy Pier in downtown San
Diego on the North Embarcadero. USS Midway is open daily from
10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with the exception of Thanksgiving and Christmas
