Bordered on the north by Huntington Beach Beach and on the south by Laguna Beach. Newport is home to some of the most expensive real estate in Southern California. Newport Beach is located 50 miles south of Los Angeles and has 22 square miles of ocean and bay. Newport is home to the "wedge" a world famous surfing spot. The Balboa Pavilion is a registered historic structure built in 1905. In the mid-1800s, the state sold parts of Harbor, Balboa and Lido islands for $1 an acre.
