Palm Springs Tramway Ride from the Desert to the Mountains

Palm Springs Aerial Tramway takes you from the hot desert floor to the cool mountain top. This thrilling adventure is taken aboard rotating tram cars that can hold up to eighty people. Your adventure starts as you drive up the steep road to the Palm Springs Tram base Station. At the base station you can watch a movie about the tramway and browse through the gift shop while waiting for your tram car to depart. Once onboard the the fun begins. The tram will climb 5,873' feet in about 15 minutes rotating 360 degrees several times during the accent. Each time the tram passes over one of the towers there is a slight drop which usually gets a few screams form your fellow riders. Don't worry the tram has an excellent safety record and has not lost any riders yet. At mountain station you will find the Top of the Tram Restaurant and a fantastic view of Palm Springs in the valley below. There are miles of trails to explore or you can just relax and enjoy the cool mountain air. Summer time the mountain top is the perfect place to escape the heat. During the winter cross-country ski and snowshoeing rental equipment are available. Bring along warm clothing for your trip up the mountain, winters are very cold and even in the summer it can be cool. If your afraid of heights you can sit in the center of the gondola and before you know it you will be at mountain station.
