Pismo
Beach is about as far north you can reach in a day
trip. To really enjoy this central coast beach town you need
spend more than one day. This classic California beach town
is perfect for a weekend getaway or an entire vacation. There
is no end of things to do in the Pismo Beach area. Inland you
will find wineries and some of the most picturesque scenery
anywhere in California. Along the coast the beaches range from
wide white sand to rocky outlets with tide pools. The town of
Pismo still retains it's classic look. So far there are no high
rise hotels or condos it remains much the same as it was back
in the sixty's. The center of town is around the pier which
has small tourist shops and typical beach town restaurants.
Just a few miles down the coast are the Oceano
Dunes where you can still drive your vehicle on the sand.
This is a favorite place for ATV riders, beach camping is also
available at the dunes. Up the coast you will find Morro
Bay and Hearst
Castle. Pismo Beach will remind you of the Southern California
Beach resorts towns before they were developed into tourist
attractions. Take a trip to this wonderful area of Central California
you will not be disappointed.

Capital" of California. The city holds the "Clam Festival"
every October, complete with clam chowder competitions and a clam-themed
parade. At the southern end of Price Street upon first entering
Pismo Beach, a gigantic concrete clam statue greets visitors.
Clamming is restricted, due to over-harvesting by humans and the
