Santa
Ana Zoo at Prentice Park
|
The
Santa Ana Zoo first opened in 1952 on land donated
by local citrus grower Joseph Prentice. He had two conditions
for the city, one that the park would be named after him and
the other that at least fifty monkeys would always be on display.
Today the zoo has monkeys and thousands of visitors annually
that come to see them. Santa Ana Zoo displays 90 species, 249
individuals, and 35 exhibits. The Santa Ana zoo has many things
to keep kids interested including elephant rides, a miniature
train ride, and the Crean family farm and children zoo. After
strolling around the zoo you can relax and enjoy the gardens
while the kids climb around the play area next to the snack
bar. This is the perfect place to introduce younger children
to the wonders of the zoo.Your visit to the Santa Ana Zoo will
take about three hours or more. Parking is free and admission
to the zoo is very reasonably priced.
