Southern California Wineries. Southern California has several wine producing regions making wines which are highly regarded for their consistency, reliability and quality. Many of these wineries offer picnic areas and some of the larger operations have restaurants. Visiting one or several of the vineyards listed makes a great scenic day trip. Wineries usually charge a small fee for tasting which is refundable if you decide to purchase the wine. Wineries are mainly concentrated in two Southern California, Temecula and Santa Barbara. There is a sprinkling of vineyards in the Santa Monica Mountains along with small boutique wineries scattered throughout the southland. Numerous vendors offer guided wine tours by limo or bus and if your feeling adventurous you can take a hot air balloon ride. One of the best ways to discover wineries and vineyards is by car.
