The Southern California Watermelon Festival  is a fun family-friendly event.  Enjoy food,  live music, contests, games, carnival rides, and of  all-you-can-eat free watermelon.

It is an official event Co-presented by the Sunland-Tujunga Lions Club and the Sunland-Tujunga Chamber of Commerce.

There are various contests you can enter at the Watermelon Festival – from melon growing, melon eating, seed spitting, relay race, arts, crafts, and more.

A full lineup of bands and groups will be on hand for all three days of the watermelon festival covering just about any type of music you can think of.

Watermelon festivities also include arts & crafts exhibitors and vendor booths, carving demonstrations, a battle of the bands, and strolling performers.

In addition to the carnival rides and midway games, kids can enjoy rock wall climbing, a zip line, laser tag  For younger children there will be  a bouncy pit, and face painting, and Melon-Dramatic Puppet Theater.

“We’re proud to present this unique event that makes fundraising a fun adventure that brings people together,” says Festival Director Paul Butler. “Proceeds from the celebration benefit charitable projects in the community.”

The food court will be serving everything from hot dogs, pizza, candy corn, and BBQ to the most exotic plates of Thai and Indonesian.
Watermelon-O-Matic returns to the festival this year along with the fabulous Watermelon Truck, dispensing free watermelon to all.

Southern California Festival Dates:

August 13 -14- 2016

Watermelon Festival Hours:

Saturday, August 13 from 11am to 10pm; Sunday, August 14 from 12pm to 10pm.

Festival Admission:

Admission: $10.00 | Kids ages 3-12: $6; Children 2 years & under are free.

Watermelon Festival Location:

This year’s Watermelon Festival will be held at Hansen Dam Soccer Park Complex.  11480 Foothill Blvd, Lake View Terrace in the San Fernando Valley. Parking is free.
