The Elf on the Shelf’s Magical Holiday Journey is a drive-through Christmas attraction held at the Fairplex in Pomona, California. Generally speaking, most drive-through events are underwhelming. However, Fairplex has come up with a winner with Elf on the Shelf.

Visitors and their vehicles are shrunk to Elf size as they drive through the various light displays. The event’s theme is an expedition to help repair Santa’s sleigh. There are toy repair workshops, gingerbread villages, fishing Elfs, a tractor pulling a train, and loads of dazzling lights on the route.

The entire experience is enjoyed inside your car or truck. Windows can be rolled down; however, performers will not approach your vehicle when the windows are down. Pre-sealed refreshments will be available for purchase and delivered to your car. We suggest loading up with drinks and snacks before you go and saving your money.

 Sound Experience

Visitors need a smartphone with Android or iOS to experience the narration and music that guides the experience. There is also an app you can download in advance. But do you need another app? You can always take photos or videos with your phone and pass them on to the app.

Before you Go

Motorcycles, convertibles without a roof, and jeeps without doors are not allowed in the event. Also, passengers are not permitted to ride in the truck’s bed. The good news is pets are allowed in your vehicle so that you can bring along your four-legged friends.

It is best to buy tickets in advance. Guests are scheduled by session and should arrive 15 minutes before you are expected to enter the event—plan on spending about one hour at Elf on the Shelves. The speed limit inside is 2-3 mph.

With limited choices for holiday events this year, Elf on the Shelf’s Magical Holiday Journey is one of the better options available.
