We have booked a 5 night stay (Oct 27 ~ Nov 1st 2022) and just received a notification that the park will be evacuated from SATURDAY Oct 29th at 1:00PM to approximately 8:00PM or until park staff receives approval from Vandenburg to re-enter. Thanks a lot to US Space Force at Vandenburg and Santa Barbara Parks for inconveniencing all of us who booked the weekend in question SIX MONTHS AGO when there was no rocket launch scheduled. Now over 100 campsites will need to be evacuated Saturday afternoon and evening for a the 189th launch of a Falcon 9 rocket, all previous 188 launches without failure just because it might fall out of the sky and rain down death and destruction onto Jalama Beach. THIS PRACTICE OF EVACUATION IS A REMNANT OF CAUTION WHEN LAUNCHING MILITARY ROCKETS THAT HAD A TENDANCY TO BE UNSTABLE, WHY DOES IT STILL PERSISTS TO THIS DAY AND WHEN IS THIS PRACTICE OF EVACUATING JALAMA GOING TO END ???

We love Jalama Beach we have going for around 27 years first with tents fun! Then renting trailers better fun last year and this coming Oct we where Lucky enough to get a cabin !! So nice first year in our cabin 2 days in the electricity went out due to a fire .we still made it fun we where give ice and flash lights .we just went into town to by a camping stoves and other things for camping..Jalama Beach is a fun family beach.excited to go this OCTOBER!!

We love camping at Jalama, however, if there is a rocket launch, you will likely need to evacuate the area in the very early hours of the morning (3am-7am). This happened during our trip that we planned 6 months in advance and the launch was delayed twice which meant not knowing where we were going to sleep for our 3 night stay. It completely ruined our trip as we have you’d children and opted to get a hotel in Lompoc to avoid waking them.

Jalama beach is a great place to camp. Ive been taking my kids there for 23 years now and it never gets old. We go every summer and LOVE IT
