The World Famous Crochet Museum is a fascinating roadside attraction behind the Joshua Tree Saloon. The Crochet Museum is in a small artist colony, including Soul Connection, Art Queen Gallery, Space Cowboy Books, a ceramic shop, and a glass blower. If you visit Joshua Tree National Park, it’s worth stopping at the museum.
Crochet Museum
The Crochet Museum is an old-time walk-up photo mart filled with a fascinating crochet collection. The museum is tiny, fitting only one or two people at a time. Crochet items are not for sale. However, you can buy quirky artwork, posters, paintings, vintage clothing, and gifts at the nearby Art Queen Gallery.
Art Queen Gallery
Outside the museum, there’s a courtyard scattered with art installations. There is a wall of hubcaps called the Wheel of Fortune, a steel flower with male attachment petals, an unusual watchtower, giant boulders of aluminum foil, ceramic mushrooms, rocking horses, and other assorted scrap artworks.
Admission to the museum is free, and hours of operation are sporadic, so check their website before visiting. World Famous Crochet Museum’s address is 61855 Hwy 62 Joshua Tree, California. Website. Plenty of parking is at the back of the lot from the entrance gate.
Joshua Tree Saloon
The Joshua Tree Saloon is a local watering hole that provides a great place to stop for a cool drink and food after a day of exploring Joshua Tree National Park. The saloon offers indoor and outdoor seating, and the outdoor area is dog-friendly. The extensive food menu includes carnitas tacos, burgers, steaks, chicken seafood, and burgers. A selection of soft drinks, wine, and cocktails are available for service. Website.
